You may have seen some of our many posts on the use of Peat in compost over the past couple of years and perhaps read our blog on ‘7 Reasons to Avoid Peat and Why it is Bad for the Environment‘.

If you are as passionate about the subject as we are, we urge you to write to your local garden centre(s), DIY store(s) and other retailers still using and selling Peat-based compost. We have done just that and written to every garden centre in our local authority area (around a dozen) and the following national retailers:

  • Aldi
  • Asda
  • B&Q
  • Homebase
  • Lidl
  • Morrisons
  • Sainsbury’s
  • Tesco
  • Waitrose
  • Wickes

Of course, feel free to compose your own message but if you’d like to use our ready-made message, you can cut and paste this into an email to any of the above.

Where possible, we would encourage you to address your concerns to the CEO, Managing Director or similar. For larger companies, you can research their contact details using sites such as CEOemail.com and Rocket Reach.

You can find us on Facebook by searching for Plastic Free Home or at http://www.facebook.com/plasticfreehomeuk.
