The ‘Show Your Stripes’ graphics have quickly become iconic and an internationally-recognised visualisation of the climate emergency facing us.
The research and graphics are the brainchild of the University of Reading’s Professor Ed Hawkins MBE, a co-author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) sixth Assessment Report, published in 2021.
A few months ago we were very fortunate to meet Professor Hawkins on campus for a chat. Considering the high profile nature of his work and his impressive achievements, he is a humble and unassuming man – and very personable.
Professor Hawkins also very kindly signed a framed copy of his work, as shown above. It now hangs in our hallway, next to a letter received from Sir David Attenborough several years ago.
